You are now standing in front of the residence of several hundred thousand bees.
Honey has been robbed from wild bees for millennia. The middle of the 19th century saw the start of bee cubes with loose frames. In the winter, every beehive has a cube (the breeding room). In summer, boxes are added as needed (tax boxes). In a normal cube it is approx. 20,000 working beers, and a queen. In the summer, the number of working bees can increase up to 70,000, and in addition up to 5000 drones (male bees) die in the autumn.
